Build My Life | June 7th, 2026

This week, we looked at Matthew 5:38–42 and discovered Jesus’ countercultural vision for responding to insult and evil. Instead of repaying evil with evil, Jesus calls His people to respond with creative courage — confronting injustice in ways marked by dignity, generosity, service, and love.

Through examples like turning the other cheek, giving away your cloak, and going the extra mile, Jesus teaches us to reject both retaliation and passivity. The kingdom of God is not built on revenge or getting even, but on trusting God, loving enemies, and responding to conflict with courageous grace.

Ultimately, Jesus not only taught this way of life — He embodied it. He was insulted, stripped, oppressed, and crucified, yet He responded with forgiveness, generosity, and self-giving love. Because of Him, we can resist evil without becoming people consumed by it.
