Sermon Series

Sketches of Redemption

Genesis, the first book of the Bible, not only introduces us to the nature and character of God, it provides sketches of the redemption to come. It is the origin story of God’s redemptive love for a broken world. In its pages, we see vivid sketches of the gospel long before Christ comes in flesh. From Eden to Egypt, Genesis reveals patterns of sin, grace, and salvation that point forward to Jesus. Each story—whether of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Joseph, or others—offers a glimpse of the Redeemer to come and invites us to trust God’s redemptive hand in our own stories.

    Sketches Of Redemption | September 14th, 2025

While Genesis 1 shows us who we are—people made in God’s image—Genesis 2 reveals why we are here: to live fully alive in relationship with our Creator. Formed from the dust yet filled with His breath, we are called to meaningful work and to embrace both God’s gifts and His boundaries. This passage reminds us that the true life we long for—abundant, joyful, and free—comes not from self-rule but from life with God at the center.

Sketches Of Redemption | Sunday September 7th, 2025

This Sunday, we began a new series in the book of Genesis called Sketches of Redemption that will trace the origin story of God’s redemptive love for a broken world. From the very first words, “In the beginning, God…,” we are reminded that our lives are part of a bigger story—one centered on a loving Creator who delights in His world and in us.

The Book of Philemon | Guest Speaker: Daniel Kunkel | Sunday August 31st, 2025

What does it mean for the Gospel to make the “useless” useful? In this sermon from Philemon 11–25, we explore Paul’s heartfelt appeal for Onesimus—a runaway slave turned believer in Christ. Paul challenges Philemon to see Onesimus not as property, but as a beloved brother in the Lord.

The Book of Philemon | Guest Speaker: Daniel Kunkel | Sunday August 24th, 2025

Partnership and unity are at the heart of following Christ. We learned that the true marker of faith isn’t status or self-sufficiency, but selfless love that reflects the cross. And, because of Christ’s sacrifice, we are not just acquaintances or colleagues but brothers and sisters, sons and daughters in the family of God.

The Subway Series | Guest Speaker: Melvin Mercado | August 17th, 2025

This Sunday, our very own Melvin Mercado shared a powerful message from Jonah 1:1–17. In the passage, we see a prophet who knew God’s voice yet chose to run in the opposite direction. Yet even in Jonah’s rebellion, God’s sovereignty was clear—He controlled the storm, turned the hearts of pagan sailors, and used the situation to glorify Himself.

The Subway Series | Guest Speaker: David Beidel | August 10th, 2025

Our very own David Beidel shared a powerful message from Colossians 3:1–2, reminding us that fixing our hearts on heaven is not a one-time decision but a daily pursuit. Heaven is more than a distant hope; it’s the present reality of Christ in us, bringing peace, healing, renewal, and transformation. When our minds are set on eternity, we carry the culture of heaven into our homes, workplaces, and communities, replacing darkness with light.

The Subway Series | Pastor Rob Wong | August 3rd, 2025

This Sunday in our Subway Series, Pastor Rob brought a challenging word from the story of Nehemiah. We were reminded that alongside churches across NYC we’re called to dream big and join in God’s work for the flourishing of our city. Like Nehemiah, we’re invited to ask and listen, to weep over what’s broken, to pray with conviction, and to take risks for the sake of others.

The Subway Series | Guest Speaker: Kristian Hernandez | July 27th, 2025

This Sunday, we welcomed guest pastor Kristian Hernandez, who shared a powerful message rooted in Genesis about identity, brokenness, and grace. Drawing from his own story and the story of creation, he reminded us that we were intentionally made by God, deeply broken by sin, yet relentlessly pursued by a loving Savior. God's grace finds us in our hiding and shame—not to condemn, but to restore.

The Subway Series | Guest Speaker: David Lopez | July 20th, 2025

This Sunday, we continued our Subway Series with guest pastor David Lopez from Joy Way Church in Bushwick. Teaching from Luke 10, Pastor David challenged us to become the kind of people shaped by radical compassion. Through the parable of the Good Samaritan, we were reminded that extending mercy begins with recognizing the mercy we’ve first received from Jesus.

The Subway Series | Guest Speaker: Drew Hyun | July 13th, 2025

In this week’s sermon, we explored the grand narrative arc of Scripture: from the beauty of creation, through the disillusionment of human failure, to the redemptive hope found in God’s relentless pursuit of His people. We were reminded that the Christian faith is not merely doctrinal, but deeply storied—a movement shaped by divine compassion, human vulnerability, and the ongoing invitation to healing and freedom in Christ.

The Subway Series | Guest Speaker: Danny Cruz | July 6th, 2025

Guest speaker Danny Cruz invites us to consider what it truly means to become “all things to all people” in a city as diverse and dynamic as Brooklyn. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 9:19–23, we were reminded that Gospel witness requires cultural awareness, personal humility, and a willingness to lay aside personal preferences to demonstrate the love of Jesus to those around us.

The Subway Series | Guest Speaker: John Welborn | June 29th, 2025

As we begin our summer preaching series during Pastor Logan’s sabbatical, guest speaker Dr. John Welborn opens with a theological reflection on Matthew 16:13–18 and the enduring mission of the Church. Drawing from Scripture and church history, this sermon explores how the local church remains central to God’s redemptive work in the world—not primarily through institutional expansion, but through faithful witness, spiritual formation, and gospel-centered presence in the community.

The Subway Series: Equipped By the God of Peace | June 22nd, 2025

In this kickoff to our summer Subway Series, Pastor Logan shares his prayer for the church as he leaves for a summer sabbatical. Hebrews 13:20–21 is a powerful prayer that reminds us of God’s character and how it shapes our lives. God is the God of peace, the Good Shepherd, a covenant-keeping Father, and the one still at work within us. As we listen to voices across NYC this summer, we begin by asking: What might God want to do in you and through you this season?

Wonderfully Made: Renewal of the Mind | May 18th, 2025

Our minds form our identity, shape our behavior, determine our values, and define our relationships. We live our lives according to the thoughts we think. Therefore, the life of the mind is not peripheral to spiritual formation—it is central. Steeped in Philippians 4, this sermon calls us to both guard our minds from what is harmful and cultivate them with what is good.

    Wonderfully Made: Psalm 139 | May 4th, 2025

Every human life is crafted with divine intention and value. This foundational teaching calls us to a deeper discipleship that sees the whole person—body, mind, heart, and soul—as sacred. As we consider questions like "Who am I?" and "Do I have value?", Psalm 139 tells us: our identity is not found in performance or status, but in communion with God.
