“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” David’s praise rings loudly in our modern day not only as a declaration of worship, but as affirmation of hope in a world wrecked by the dehumanization effects of sin, wounded by the condemning voice of shame, and wearied by the futile pursuit of our “true selves.” There is, perhaps, no more relevant topic for the church to grapple with in our culture. What does it mean to be human? Who am I, really? And how I can I flourish as a complex person with physical, rational, emotional, relational, and spiritual dimensions?
