This Sunday, we continued our series in Exodus by looking at Moses’ encounter with God in the wilderness. Faced with his own shame, failure, and questions about whether he was enough, Moses asks, “Who am I?” God’s answer is not a list of Moses’ qualifications, but a promise: “I will be with you.” Our identity is not something we achieve, but something we receive from the God who knows us, calls us, and stays with us.

Moses then asks, “Who are you?” God reveals himself as “I AM”—the God who is constant, self-defining, and enough. In Jesus, we see this same God draw near to us in our deepest places of need. Our stories may shape us, but they do not have to define us. We can find a secure identity not in what we have accomplished, but in knowing the God who says, “I AM,” and who is with us.
