In Matthew 6, Jesus teaches us that prayer is not about saying the right words to get God’s attention. We pray to a Father who already knows, already sees, and already loves us.

“Our Father in heaven” reminds us that God is both intimately near and infinitely holy—close enough to care and powerful enough to help. Before teaching us to bring our requests, Jesus teaches us to reorient our hearts: “Hallowed be your name.” Prayer begins by asking God to become our greatest treasure.
